My teaching philosophy
The attraction or pull towards being a teacher began early on in life as my mom is a teacher, after nursery school and throughout primary school until the age of 10 my mom worked at the same school that I attended, seeing the great admiration the students had for her and how happy she was to go to work in the morning everyday made me want to strive for the same, she always told me silly and fun stories about her day, what the students did in class and how she made the lesson so fun for them, hearing the joy in her voice when speaking about her Grade 2 class solidified my idea of going into education as a career. The idea of constantly loving what you do, having and making the lessons fun, and not sitting behind a desk for the rest of my life sounding more appealing than any old 9 to 5 ever could. My mom says teaching is literally in my blood. My knowledge of growing up around teaching, as well as having my mom teaching and guiding in my path towards becoming a teacher has provided me with knowledge and skills that I believe have aided in my abilities in ways that learning in a classroom couldn’t, regarding my personal attributes I’ve always heard that Foundation Phase teachers are similar to mother, I relate to this as I am kind, caring and only want the best for others which is what is required of a teacher, I believe that this is how a teacher should act as well, not shout and scream and make the students too scared to trust you. I want to be a teacher just like my mom, caring, compassionate and always striving to make the lessons enjoyable and as beneficial as possible for the students, as well as being someone they trust and feel like they can confide in and always have me on their team.
